Supreme Pizza Party Bread Recipe: Cheesy Stuffed Pull-Apart Loaf

featured 16150

Party Bread is a pull-apart Italian loaf cut into a grid, stuffed with mozzarella, pepperoni, green onions and bell pepper, then baked until the cheese is melted and golden.

It’s fast, simple and impressive—comfort food that delivers nearly instant satisfaction.

As a parent I often have to disappoint my kids for sensible reasons—bad weather, icy roads, or keeping a sick child home so we don’t spread germs. Those decisions feel responsible, but they aren’t always popular.

My mom used to say, “You’re young; disappointment stings. You learn from it.” I try to keep that in mind, but sometimes a little extra comfort goes a long way.

When I need a quick morale boost at home, a combination of bread, cheese and heat works wonders—like this Supreme Pizza Party Bread. I had to tell my three oldest they couldn’t go to youth group because the roads were iced over, and they were understandably bummed. A warm, cheesy pull-apart loaf fixed most of that mood.

Supreme Pizza Party Bread needs only a good Italian loaf, a drizzle or spritz of olive oil, lots of shredded mozzarella, diced pepperoni, thinly sliced green onions and a small diced bell pepper (or half of a regular pepper).

The only mildly tricky step is slicing the loaf into a grid—lengthwise and crosswise about every 3/4-inch—without cutting through the bottom crust. A long serrated knife makes this easy.

Pry the cuts open, brush or spritz with olive oil, stuff generous amounts of shredded cheese into the grid, tuck pepperoni pieces into the openings, and scatter green onions and diced bell pepper across the top. Wrap in foil and bake until the cheese is completely melted.

Unwrap the top and return the bread to the oven for a few minutes more so the cheese browns lightly and becomes slightly toasted. The result is irresistible: gooey, pull-apart bread studded with pepperoni and brightened by fresh onion and pepper—perfect for calming cranky kids or entertaining guests.

Pizza Party Bread Cook’s Notes

– The grid is the longest part of the process. Slice the loaf lengthwise every 3/4-inch (about 4–5 slices for a typical Italian loaf), stopping before you cut through the bottom crust.

– Turn the loaf 90° and cut crosswise in the same spacing to form a checkerboard. Gently pry the cuts open to make room for oil and fillings.

– Brush or spray olive oil into the openings and press shredded cheese down into the grid so the loaf becomes luxuriously gooey when baked. Reserve about 1/2 cup of cheese to scatter on top.

– Add diced pepperoni throughout the cheese so each pull-apart piece can reveal a savory surprise. Scatter the green onions and diced bell pepper on top for color and freshness—this step is easy and gives the loaf a bright finished look.

– Bake until the cheese is melted, then open the foil to expose the top and bake a few more minutes until you have golden brown spots of cheese. Serve hot for best results.

Pizza Party Bread

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Slice the bread lengthwise and crosswise into a 3/4-inch grid, keeping the base crust intact. Place the loaf on a large sheet of heavy-duty foil.

Gently pry the grid open and lightly spray or brush with olive oil. Stuff shredded mozzarella into the cuts and between the pieces, reserving about 1/2 cup for the top. Sprinkle diced pepperoni into the openings, then top with sliced green onions and diced bell pepper. Wrap the foil around the loaf, crimping the top and ends, and bake 20 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted.

If you’d like a browned top, open the foil so the top of the bread is exposed and return it to the oven for another 8–10 minutes until golden in spots. Serve hot with pizza sauce for dipping, if desired.
