Eggnog Chai Latte Recipe — Creamy Holiday Coffee Twist

Update: I’ve received many emails asking where I got the mug. For those who asked, it’s part of the MugTails Collection available on Amazon.
Every so often I’ll drink coffee simply because it’s easier to find a decent hot drink when you’re out than a passable tea. The truth is: I don’t enjoy coffee the way many people do — I’m a tea person. I love tea and often carry a few dependable tea bags for emergencies when I might be somewhere without a tea option. Once I stayed at a bed and breakfast that offered fifteen varieties of coffee but only a single herbal tea. When I asked if I could boil water on the stove, the host admitted the stovetop didn’t work and suggested I drink coffee instead. I politely declined and kept happier thoughts.
That frothy goodness in the mug above is my tea-lover’s answer to an indulgent specialty drink. It’s creamy, foamy, frothy and rich like a cappuccino, but the base is a homemade Spiced Orange Chai Concentrate rather than espresso. The mild orange notes from the chai complement the warm nutmeg character of eggnog perfectly. Use whichever eggnog you prefer — I’ve had equally delicious results with traditional dairy eggnog, organic versions, and even coconut-based vegan nog.
P.S. I like to froth the eggnog and milk mixture with a small hand frother to get that café-style foam.
Don’t worry, coffee drinkers — I included instructions to make this as a true coffee latte so you can enjoy it with espresso. And if you ever invite me over, a few black tea bags on hand would be lovely.
