Learn how to make homemade coffee creamer with this Snickerdoodle Coffee Creamer—far tastier and often healthier than store-bought varieties. Once you try it, your coffee (and tea) will never be the same.

My mother and coffee have always gone hand in hand. When I think of her I picture laughter, piano music, and a devotion that never wavered. She nourished both spirit and stomach for our family, and coffee was a constant companion. She brewed coffee so strong it became part of family lore—strong enough, legend says, to stand a spoon upright. Thankfully she’s also a nurse, so any caffeine-fueled mishaps always had a caring hand nearby.
She also preferred her coffee in small, unconventional vessels—“Wabi-sabi” cups, sugar bowls, tiny mismatched mugs—rather than a standard mug. And she loved the scent of vanilla. Before essential oils were common, she would dab vanilla extract on her pulse points in place of perfume. Those vanilla memories are part of why vanilla feels like comfort to me.

For Mother’s Day I wanted to create a recipe that honored those small rituals, so I developed a Snickerdoodle Coffee Creamer. The combination of cinnamon, vanilla, and sweetened condensed milk evokes memories of my grandma’s snickerdoodles and the warmth of mornings shared across generations. Using pure vanilla extract gives the creamer a true, comforting flavor that imitation vanillas can’t match.
Cook’s Notes:
- Customize the richness and calories by choosing regular, fat-free, or vegan sweetened condensed milk and your preferred milk—whole, 2%, 1%, skim, almond, soy, coconut, hemp, or other non-dairy options. The creamer’s use-by date should match the expiration date of the milk you use, so label the jar accordingly.
- Use PURE vanilla extract for the best flavor. Imitation vanilla will not provide the same depth and aroma.
