Pineapple Mule: Refreshing Cocktail & Alcohol-Free Mocktail Recipes
I love all things pineapple. To me it’s the taste of summer: bright, slightly tropical, and perfectly balanced between sweet and tart. Pineapple brings instant lift to both food and drinks, and it’s a natural for cocktails. If you want a chilled, refreshing beverage that’s simple to make and delicious to sip, try the Pineapple Mule—available as both a cocktail and a mocktail.

The Pineapple Mule is a playful variation on the classic Moscow Mule. While a traditional Mule features ginger beer, lime juice, mint, vodka and ice, this version highlights pineapple flavor. Using DOLE® 100% Pineapple Juice gives the drink a fresh, fruity backbone while the ginger beer keeps the signature spicy fizz. For those who prefer a nonalcoholic option, the Pineapple Mule Mocktail delivers the same bright flavors without the spirits, so everyone at the table can enjoy it.

With a Pineapple Mule in hand, all that’s left is to relax—prop your feet up and enjoy a cool, tropical sip.
Cook’s Notes
- These drinks are very easy to make. Still, a few small details make a big difference. Don’t skimp on the ice—fill the glass nearly to the top to keep the drink cold and dilute it slowly.
- Traditional Moscow Mules are served in copper mugs, which also help keep the drink extra cold. If you have copper mugs, you can use them for the cocktails and use regular glasses for the mocktails to avoid confusion. No copper mugs? Any clean cocktail glass will do.
- When a recipe instructs you to smack the mint leaves, it’s purposeful: bruising the leaves releases essential oils and aroma. That faint mint scent enhances the Pineapple Mule experience, so don’t skip it.
- For the mocktail, you can use either a Ginger Switchel Drink or unsweetened apple juice. Ginger switchel adds a zesty, tangy note that pairs wonderfully with pineapple; apple juice is a fine substitute if you prefer a milder profile or can’t find switchel.
- One 6-ounce can of DOLE® 100% Pineapple Juice is the perfect amount for two Pineapple Mules. It’s convenient to keep a few cans on hand for drinks, smoothies and marinades.
