Lady Grey-Infused Vodka Recipe and Serving Ideas

Lady Grey infused vodka might sound like an upscale, boutique purchase — the kind of flavored spirit you’d expect to pay $30 or more for a 750 ml bottle. But once you learn how simple it is to make at home (the same method works with Earl Grey), you’ll never spend that much on a pre-made bottle again.

I first encountered this tea-infused vodka in a cocktail while traveling and loved its delicate flavor. Back home, faced with an expensive bottle at the liquor store, I decided to experiment. The result was pleasantly surprising: with just a good plain vodka and a few Lady Grey tea bags, you can craft a refined, aromatic infused vodka suitable for cocktails or sipping.

Tart and sweet notes of bergamot and orange make this Lady Grey Infused Vodka a delicious addition to vodka and tonics or craft cocktails.

This homemade version highlights bergamot and citrus notes, adding a subtle floral-citrus element to drinks. It’s versatile — try it in a vodka tonic, a citrus-forward cocktail, or even splashed into a hot London Fog for a spirited twist.

Infused Vodka

With only two ingredients, choose each carefully. Use a good-quality vodka — it doesn’t have to be top shelf, but avoid the cheapest options. Tito’s or a similar smooth vodka is a reliable choice.

Pick a tea you enjoy on its own, since the infusion concentrates the tea’s flavor. I prefer Lady Grey for its lighter citrus notes, but Earl Grey works just as well if you prefer the classic bergamot-forward profile. For evening drinks or if you’re sensitive to caffeine, consider decaffeinated tea.

Ingredients

  • 3
    lady grey tea bags
You can use caffeinated or decaffeinated tea
  • 1
    cup
    vodka

Instructions

  • Place the tea bags in an 8-ounce canning jar and pour the vodka over them. Seal the jar tightly and allow the tea to infuse the vodka for a minimum of 4 hours and up to 24 hours, depending on how pronounced you want the tea flavor.

Remove the tea bags, gently squeeze them to release any trapped liquid, and discard the bags.

Reseal the jar. Use the infused vodka immediately or store it at room temperature for up to 3 days, in the refrigerator for up to 1 month, or in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Notes

If you prefer, substitute Earl Grey tea bags — decaffeinated or regular — for a slightly different bergamot-forward profile.
