In this house, one unbreakable rule holds: finger foods vanish in seconds. Bite-sized treats, anything on a stick, or snackable morsels that can be popped into the mouth are always the first to go.
With Super Sunday—the peak of the snack season—approaching, I’m planning the menu to keep my football-crazed crew satisfied no matter how the game ends.
There are a few classics that never get skipped: chicken wings, soft pretzel-wrapped smoked sausages, dill pickle dip, and the like. But every year I add one or two new crowd-pleasers to the rotation. This year’s standout is Cheeseburger Bites from the Land O’Lakes Big Game recipe collection—simple, cheesy, and perfect for a party.
I made this recipe to have ready for a webinar I co-hosted with Amber from the Land O’Lakes test kitchen last Friday. A girl needs snacks to keep her energy up while chatting with a virtual room full of wonderful bloggers. Hi, I’m Rebecca. I’m a stress eater.
The result? I put the platter on the counter and was immediately surrounded by five small conspirators asking the usual questions: “What’s that?”, “Is that meat?”, “Can I have one?”, “How about four?”, “Can I eat the whole plate?” Before I knew it, three-quarters of the platter was gone.

I was left with just a few Cheeseburger Bites and a bowl of dark chocolate chunks and pretzels to sustain me. Tough life, right?

Cheeseburger Bites for Super Sunday {Giveaway!}

Ingredients
- 36-48 wonton wrappers trimmed to 3-inch squares
- nonstick cooking spray
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup finely minced or grated onion
- 1 clove garlic or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, peeled and minced or pressed
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper preferably freshly ground
- 1 cup finely chopped dill pickles divided
- 1/2 cup milk
- 14 slices Land O Lakes Deli American
- toasted sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F with a rack set in the middle position.
-
Lightly spray mini-muffin pans with nonstick cooking spray. Gently press one trimmed wonton square into each muffin cup to form a small cup.
-
Bake the wonton cups in the center of the oven for 5–10 minutes, watching closely so they brown but don’t burn.
-
Turn the baked wonton cups out onto a cooling rack to cool completely while you prepare the filling.
-
In a small skillet, combine the minced onion, garlic, and black pepper. Crumble the ground beef into the pan and cook over medium heat, breaking it into very small pieces, until browned and cooked through. Tear the American cheese into pieces and add it to the pan with the milk. Stir and cook until the cheese melts and the mixture becomes creamy. Remove a portion of the mixture if you want some without pickles. To the remaining cheesy beef, stir in about 1/2 cup of the chopped pickles. Spoon the mixture into the cooled wonton cups and top with the remaining chopped pickles and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds.
-
Serve the cheeseburger bites immediately while warm and enjoy.
