Boozy Strawberry Basil Lemonade blends sweet strawberries, fragrant basil, and bright lemon into a refreshingly tart summer cocktail. Built around Strawberry Basil Infused Vodka, this simple craft cocktail is easy to make at home — no bartending degree required. With just a few fresh ingredients, a little shaking, and a cold glass, you’ll have a drink that tastes like a porch-side celebration.

For a long time I avoided cocktails because they felt overly complicated and full of intimidating ingredient lists. Classic drink names didn’t help — they sounded silly and made ordering feel awkward. More recently I’ve embraced the modern approach to mixology: bartenders borrowing techniques and ingredients from the kitchen. Herbs, fresh fruit, and even unexpected savory elements help create balanced drinks that actually make sense.
Vodka is a great starting point for this style of cocktail: neutral, versatile, and excellent at carrying fresh flavors. In this recipe I use vodka that has been infused with strawberries and basil. The infusion adds a fruity, perfumey layer that pairs perfectly with freshly squeezed lemon and a touch of sugar.

To make the cocktail, muddle fresh strawberries with sugar and a basil leaf, add ice, the infused vodka, lemon, and lemonade, then shake until very cold. Strain into a glass and top with a splash of chilled seltzer if you like a little effervescence. The result is bright and fragrant: summer strawberries, aromatic basil, and the tang of lemon — all in one satisfying sip.

This drink is perfect for sitting on the porch, relaxing with friends, and watching the sun set. It’s easy enough to make for a casual evening yet special enough to impress guests. Serve it with simple snacks — nachos, cheese, or light bites work wonderfully — and you’ve got a winning combination for warm-weather gatherings.
If you enjoy cocktails that highlight fresh ingredients, try pairing this lemonade with other seasonal drinks in your repertoire. The technique of infusing spirits and using fresh herbs translates well across many recipes, letting you create flavorful cocktails without fuss.
Boozy Strawberry Basil Lemonade
– Use fresh lemons: fresh juice and a bit of zest from the rind provide flavor you won’t get from bottled lemon juice.
– A cocktail shaker gives the best results, but a mason jar works fine. If you don’t mind a slightly rustic presentation, you can skip straining and serve with muddled fruit.
– Choose a lemonade you enjoy on its own — homemade, store-bought, or from concentrate — the quality of the lemonade affects the final drink.
