Pulled Pork Walking Tacos: Portable BBQ Nacho Bowls for Parties

First, I have to say—isn’t my boy adorable? Those eyes, that grin—he melts my heart. But let’s talk about what he’s holding that has him smiling so wide.
It’s that go-go season: buds on the trees, school schedules in motion, and outdoors time cranked up to eleven. The snow has finally melted here in New York State (for now), and the kids have been busy puddle-jumping, creek-stomping, tree-climbing, and biking like it’s their job. With full days and active evenings, quick, handheld meals are lifesavers. Enter the walking taco.
If you’re from parts of the Central U.S. you likely already know this one. A walking taco is a snack-sized bag of Fritos or Doritos sliced open down the side and loaded with taco toppings. Yes, slice it down the side instead of opening the top—the bag becomes the bowl. It makes eating on the run easy, and cleanup even easier. Observe my hand model’s grubby nails from a full day of outdoor play.

Why this method? Because it fits everything. The chip bag holds all the toppings—meat, cheese, salsa, sour cream, avocado—and a plastic fork is all you need. Perfect for high school football, baseball, soccer, wrestling matches, community fundraisers, or a simple family weeknight when everyone is on the move.

I’m a little obsessed with pulled pork and often keep a stash in the freezer because it’s inexpensive and so versatile. Use homemade pulled pork or a purchased version—either way, pulled pork makes an amazing walking taco that will please kids and adults alike. And yes, I love Fritos. Together they spark pure joy.
Could a meal get easier? Maybe if you had it delivered, but making walking tacos at home is still faster and cheaper. With insulated packaging you can even take them on a day trip or to the park for a quick supper. They’re portable, filling, and fun—what’s not to love?
What’s your favorite fast meal? Have you tried walking tacos yet?
XO
Rebecca
P.S. Pro walking tacos tip: after opening the chip bag (but before adding toppings) give the chips a little crush. That helps them mix with the toppings inside the bag and makes each bite more balanced.
