My father is utterly devoted to peanut butter. Whenever we plan a visit, his answer to “What should I have ready?” is almost always “Peanut butter ___.” As long as peanut butter is involved, he’s happy.
Pretzels are another guaranteed winner for him. He loves them all—any shape, any size. No pretzel goes unloved.
He kindly offered to watch our five boys while my husband and I slip away for a weekend to the Martha’s Vineyard Food & Wine Festival. Since he’ll be wrangling all five at once, he deserves a special treat.
This recipe is exactly that: simple, irresistible, and perfect for sharing with someone who enjoys salty-sweet snacks. It’s also the kind of thing I can leave in abundance so my dad can nibble as he pleases while keeping an eye on the chaos.

The method is delightfully easy. Line a baking sheet with parchment, arrange waffle pretzels in a single layer, and top each pretzel with an unwrapped miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.

Bake briefly at a high temperature—just long enough for the peanut butter cups to soften and become glossy around the edges. One minute in a preheated 350°F oven is usually perfect; the goal is slight slump, not complete melting.

Immediately top each softened cup with another pretzel and press gently so the warm chocolate and peanut butter push up through the holes of the top pretzel. Allow the bites to cool completely so the chocolate firms up again—otherwise you’ll have sticky fingers and ruined presentation (trust me, experience speaks).
These two-ingredient treats are dangerously addictive—I’m practically a chip off the old block. You may want to prepare multiple trays because they’ll vanish fast. They strike the perfect balance of salty and sweet: crunchy pretzels, creamy peanut butter, and chocolate all in a perfect two-bite package.

Ingredients
- Miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups as many as you’d like, unwrapped
- Round or square waffle pretzels two per peanut butter cup
- Parchment paper
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange waffle pretzels in a single layer and top each pretzel with one unwrapped miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Place the tray in the preheated oven for JUST 1 MINUTE—you want the chocolate to look glossy and the edges to soften, not to melt completely. Remove the tray, immediately top each softened cup with another pretzel, and gently press so the chocolate and peanut butter come through the holes of the top pretzel. Let cool completely so the chocolate firms up before transferring to an airtight container. Store at room temperature for up to five days.
